Social Impact

Transforming the world of work

With the power of our platform and our people, and in partnership with organizations that share our values, we aim to transform the world of work by increasing access to quality jobs that provide economic security and opportunities for advancement.

Our social impact efforts expand on our mission to help people get jobs and our commitment to help society and our shared planet. Together with our parent company Recruit Group, we are working to reduce the time to get hired by half, break down job market barriers, and connect people to better work to create better lives.

Getting a job should be faster and simpler

At Indeed, we believe we have one of the largest pools of data available on the job market. Preliminary research shows it takes about 15 weeks for most people to find a job.

Getting a job should not be this hard. It should be as easy as pushing a button. When an individual thrives, communities thrive, and society thrives.

We’re putting our insights and our platform to work to not only help people get jobs but to help make the process of getting a job faster and easier.

Help 30M job seekers facing barriers

Most barriers to employment are unrelated to a candidate’s skills or ability to do the job. Barriers in hiring can negatively impact a person before, during, and after the job search, making it hard to find, get, and keep a job.

Indeed is helping 30M people facing barriers get hired by improving the job search experience and increasing access to opportunity. We are building products that promote fair and accessible hiring, partnering with organizations around the world that share our mission, and providing key resources for job seekers facing barriers.

This work is evolving. We focus our efforts on a skills-first approach to make the greatest impact on job seekers facing barriers and make hiring more inclusive for all.

Connecting talent through skills-first hiring

Skills-first hiring means if you can do the job, you should get the job, regardless of how or where you built your skills. This approach removes barriers for job seekers with non-traditional skill development pathways, gaps in employment history, military service backgrounds, disabilities, or other circumstances that traditional hiring practices often overlook. For employers, skills-first hiring expands access to quality, committed candidates while creating pathways to economic mobility for workers.

STARs—workers who are Skilled Through Alternative Routes—represent one key population that benefits from skills-first hiring. These are job seekers who built their expertise through lived experience, certification programs, community college, military service, bootcamps, or on-the-job experience rather than a bachelor’s degree. Through our partnership with Opportunity@Work, Grads of Life, and others, Indeed supports the economic mobility of STARs.

Indeed joined the Tear the Paper Ceiling campaign in 2023 to help build the movement for skills-first hiring. As an employer, Indeed has eliminated degree requirements for over 700 internal jobs and launched the BOOST technical apprenticeship program to transition employees into software development roles.

More companies are seeing the benefit of giving every candidate a fair chance. Job seekers with a criminal record—such as those who were formerly incarcerated—often face extra challenges, making it especially difficult to find the right opportunity. Indeed is proud to be a fair chance employer and is actively working to improve employment opportunities for people with criminal records through education, resources, and advocacy that help employers recognize the value of second chances and the untapped talent within this community.

At Indeed, supporting former or current military service members and spouses starts at home. Our dedicated Indeed for Military team works to empower the military community with job search guidance, tools, and resources, while educating employers on how to better value, hire, and support military talent.

Indeed earned the Military Ready Badge in 2025, recognizing our commitment to recruiting, hiring, and supporting veterans and military spouses. We’ve embedded military-friendly language across our job postings and created pathways that recognize the skills service members develop through their military experience. Through Indeed for Military, we provide employers with tools and best practices to build veteran-inclusive hiring programs, helping bridge the gap between military service and civilian career success.

Indeed is committed to creating pathways to employment for job seekers with disabilities. We believe meaningful progress happens when we center the voices and lived experiences of people with disabilities—in our advocacy, our partnerships, and the resources we provide to employers.

Through our work with the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program, where we are both members and partners, we’re increasing awareness and understanding of non-apparent disabilities in the workplace. Our partnerships with Making Space, Disability:IN, The Valuable 500, and our support of Zero Project and other disability-focused organizations, strengthen our ability to drive positive change across the hiring landscape.

Without critical support like digital access and transportation, people struggle to find work and stay employed. Indeed’s Essentials to Work program provides critical resources—such as access to technology, transportation, and record-clearing services—to job seekers who need them most. By addressing these fundamental barriers, we’re helping remove obstacles that prevent talented individuals from accessing opportunities and building stable careers. Through partnerships with community organizations and direct resource provision, we’re ensuring that lack of essentials doesn’t stand between job seekers and meaningful employment.

Across the globe, refugees and displaced populations face unique barriers to employment, including credential recognition challenges, language barriers, gaps in work history, and navigating unfamiliar hiring systems in new countries. Indeed provides job search resources and works to connect refugees with employers worldwide who are committed to inclusive hiring practices. We help organizations across regions understand how to recognize and value the skills and experiences that refugees bring to the workforce, creating pathways to economic stability and helping displaced populations rebuild their lives.

Driving impact through employee engagement

Indeed empowers our employees to engage in the issues they are passionate about while giving back to the communities where we live and work. We believe people and teams at Indeed can better serve job seekers and employers when Indeedians have opportunities to interact directly with job seekers facing barriers and gain insights into the challenges they face.

Good Deeds

Through Good Deeds, Indeed’s employee volunteering and donation matching platform, Indeedians supported over 2,700 non-profit organizations globally, donated over $1.3M (USD), and provided over 8,700 hours of volunteer service in 2024.

Job Squad

Job Squad is our dedicated program for Indeedian volunteers to support job seekers, especially those facing barriers, in our communities and make their job search more successful. We collaborate with organizations to catalyze their impact and empower Indeedians to make a difference in their own communities.
