Environmental Sustainability

A greener world of work

We only have one planet, and everyone has a responsibility to protect it. Indeed is committed to protecting our environment by contributing to Recruit’s group-wide target for achieving carbon neutrality across our entire value chain by FY2030.

Indeed has a vision for a fairer world of work, one where job seekers from underserved communities have equal access to quality opportunities. We also know that climate change disproportionately impacts the most vulnerable. In order to help all people get jobs, especially people facing barriers, we must do everything in our power to combat climate change and support the transition to a global low-carbon economy.

Our approach to supporting environmental sustainability

Move towards renewable sources of energy, and increase the operational efficiency of Indeed facilities

Workplaces represent the most direct source of emissions produced by Indeed from our electricity and fuel usage. We’re working to:

  • improve energy efficiency across existing offices, and ensure any new office spaces are highly efficient
    • shift from Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) to high-impact utility programs, through providers like Austin Energy or Energia in Dublin.
    • reduce how much waste ends up in landfills

Collaborate with vendors across our value chain to collectively reduce our climate impact

We aim to promote climate-focused practices throughout our value chain by engaging and partnering with vendors to reduce our environmental impact. We do this through improved data collection to support reporting, and developing decarbonization plans to reduce our emissions in our joint work and high-emitting areas.

We want to work with our vendors to support lowering carbon emissions, reducing waste, conserving energy, and supporting renewable resources. These partnerships help both the vendors and Indeed meet their environmental commitments while contributing to a healthier planet.

Indeed has partnered with Ad Net Zero since April 2023 to help drive growth that’s better for the planet and better for business, and participates in Ad Net Zero working groups to empower industry-wide change. This partnership was formed to establish measurement methodologies and best practices to reduce emissions in our advertising verticals including production, media buying, and events, as part of this mission.

Indeed has also contributed to an industry “Sustainable Events Starter Guide” to help event professionals and company leaders implement sustainability best practices for events.

Indeedians across the globe contribute to a greener Indeed — and a greener world of work

Green Engineering
Guild

Indeed’s Green Engineering Guild is focused on creating a trusted ecosystem of standards, tooling, and best practices for building green software and reducing greenhouse gas emissions from our use of information and communications technologies (ICT).

Through this guild, we hope to leverage our employees’ passion for the environment to help us grow the business in a way that promotes sustainability.
