Manager - Grade 8 in Qatar
Awesome at serving customers, below average as an employer. No team building, no motivation, no bonuses, no career plans and NO ANNUAL APPRAISALS. Fast paced company where everyone is disposable. Frequent changes in the upper management leave the mid-management always confused. The company goes above and beyond in serving its customers and hence they have won "Airline of the Year" award six times in the last decade but for its employees, its a 2-star company at best. You are supposed to get a salary and thats all. No team building, no motivation, no bonuses, no career plans and NO ANNUAL APPRAISALS. The salary range for each job is huge and you can find people at same grade receiving +-40% salary which is dependent on your last salary and nationality. Your salary will rise VERY slowly, if EVER so negotiate well when joining. The salary will only increase when you are promoted but because there are no annual appraisals, promotions are done arbitrarily, if ever. They are always keen to hire from outside vs promoting from inside. In my 10+ years of service, my salary increased by 25% including a 15% increase due to a promotion and a 10% cost of living increment that Qatar government forced them to do. There have been no cost of living increments for last 8 years. The salaries they offer now is generally less than what they offered me 10 years back.
