Full job description

Research and Development:
  • Conduct cutting-edge research related to emerging technologies related to cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, including, but not limited to the following:
o AI-driven robust cybersecurity frameworks,
o Secure and resilient cyber-physical systems,
o Post-quantum cryptography and network security
o Secure and robust artificial intelligence
  • Deliver cutting-edge technical demonstrations of prototypes.
  • Oversee lab management activities, including resource allocation, procurement, and strategic planning.

Leadership and Supervision:
  • Participate in multidisciplinary research teams.
  • Supervision of B.Sc. students and helping with the supervision of M.Sc. and PhD students to conduct research and publish outcomes in high-level academic conferences and journals.

Academic Contributions:
  • Teach one course per academic semester (in their field of expertise).
  • Publish scholarly outcomes in top international academic conferences/journals and engage in participation in top industrial events.
  • Deliver technical workshops and seminars in their field of expertise to industrial and academic communities.

Collaboration and Outreach:
  • Promote partnerships and support collaboration with external organizations and industrial partners, locally and internationally.
  • Secure and manage research grants from national and international agencies.
Qualifications
  • Education and Degree Requirements
Ph.D. / Doctoral Degree and master's degree in a relevant research domain (computer science, computer engineering, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, etc.) from an internationally recognized university. The candidate should provide evidence of a PhD transcript or a letter from the university registrar's office:
  • The program from which the candidate obtained their degree is a full-time study program.
  • Details include program length, start and end dates, specialization, mode, etc..

  • Research Experience
1. The candidate should be experienced in participating in academic or industrial research projects.
2. The candidate should have experience in applying for and securing research grants from agencies or industry.
3. Proven publication track record in the following areas related to emerging topics in AI and cybersecurity, including but not limited to:

  • Generative, Agentic, and Physical AI
  • Foundations of Generative AI and Large Language Models
  • AI for Strategic Sectors and Scientific Discovery
  • AI-based cybersecurity algorithms and systems
  • Trustworthy, Explainable, and Governable AI
  • Robust and Secure AI, including attacks against machine learning models and countermeasures
  • Developing and auditing systems for fairness, transparency, and accountability, ethical AI
4. Demonstrations, symposia, or other outreach events

  • Technical Skills
1. Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
2. Strong background in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence-related research and development.
3. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
4. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
5. Understanding of sensors, actuators, and cyber-physical systems in general.
6. Very good understanding and proven development skills in applying machine learning algorithms to cybersecurity problems.
7. Understanding of adversarial machine learning, data/model poisoning, Trojan attacks, etc., against machine learning algorithms and countermeasures.
8. Superior experience with programming in : Matlab, C++, Python, C#, React.JS
9. Frameworks and systems: Cloud, IoT, mobile development experience
10. Proven track of developing and integrating open-source code

  • Teaching
Teaching experience in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, computer science, or related domains is preferred, but candidates with exceptional research records and teaching potential will also be considered.
