Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Laboratory Technician to provide technical oversight and support for advanced laboratory operations, analytical testing, quality assurance, equipment management, biosafety, inventory management, and research activities.

The role will also involve supporting researchers, faculty, laboratory users, and junior technical personnel in maintaining safe, efficient, and high-quality laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities

* Coordinate day-to-day laboratory activities and workflows.

* Support sample collection, processing, storage, documentation, and chain-of-custody procedures.

* Perform advanced analytical testing using laboratory instrumentation such as GC, HPLC, FTIR, AAS, UV-Vis, RT-PCR, ELISA, flow cytometers, and advanced imaging systems.

* Support laboratory method validation in accordance with applicable quality standards.

* Monitor QC/QA activities, calibration, proficiency testing, and equipment qualification.

* Investigate non-conformities, document deviations, and support corrective actions.

* Maintain LIMS/LIS records, technical logs, calibration records, test reports, waste records, and chemical inventories.

* Act as a laboratory safety focal point and monitor biosafety compliance.

* Coordinate hazardous material handling, decontamination procedures, and emergency response activities.

* Maintain safety documentation, PPE supplies, spill kits, first aid supplies, and emergency protocols.

* Lead installation, calibration, operation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment.

* Coordinate vendor support and equipment servicing.

* Monitor laboratory supplies, reagents, gases, and consumables.

* Coordinate procurement of specialized chemicals and research-grade materials.

* Ensure appropriate segregation and disposal of hazardous, biohazardous, sharp, and chemical waste.

* Support internal audits involving laboratory safety, chemical storage, cold chain, and inventory.

* Train and mentor junior laboratory technicians, interns, and research assistants.

* Develop technical guides, onboarding materials, and laboratory instructions.

* Support laboratory teaching, demonstrations, and pre-laboratory safety orientations.

* Assist researchers with experiment design, sampling strategies, method optimization, and data collection.

* Provide technical input for research proposals, ethics applications, manuscripts, and research activities.

Qualifications & Experience

* Bachelor's Degree in Laboratory Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or a related scientific field.

* Minimum 5–7 years of relevant laboratory experience in academic, clinical, or research environments.

* Completion of institutional biosafety and chemical safety training.

* Advanced understanding of ISO 15189, ISO/IEC 17025, and GLP requirements.

* Strong experience operating and maintaining laboratory instrumentation.

* Familiarity with analytical instrumentation and chemical and biological handling.

* Experience with LIMS or equivalent laboratory reporting systems is advantageous.

* Experience in higher education or research institutions is an advantage.

* Strong technical, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

* Ability to work with researchers, faculty, students, contractors, and maintenance personnel.

* Resourceful, self-motivated, flexible, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

* Good communication skills.

License/Certification:

• MOPH Medical License in Qatar? (Required)
