Overview

Sidra Medicine Qatar is seeking a highly motivated, committed, experienced and super organized Research Coordinator residing in Qatar, to support the Neuroscience Research Program (NRP).

The Research Coordinator will play a critical role in enabling the clinical and research activities of the NRP, working at the interface of patients, clinicians, research teams and institutional compliance. The NRP vision is to translate research into meaningful clinical impact by improving the diagnosis of patients with rare neurological disorders, enabling patient stratification for clinical trials, and driving the development of targeted and emerging therapies.

A central part of the role will be to help build and maintain deeply phenotyped, disease-focused “golden cohorts” and associated biobanks, creating high-quality clinical, phenotypic and biospecimen resources that underpin genomic and translational research.

About Sidra Medicine and the Neuroscience Research Program

Sidra Medicine is a state-of-the-art academic medical center in Doha, Qatar, dedicated to advancing the health of women and children through clinical care, education, and biomedical discovery. Its Research Branch brings together hundreds of researchers across basic, translational, clinical, AI, and biomedical informatics research, supported by advanced facilities for genomics, deep phenotyping, imaging, and biobanking.

The Neuroscience Research Program provides a multidisciplinary umbrella for clinical and research efforts focused on priority neurological and neuropsychiatric conditions affecting women and children from Middle Eastern populations, with the ultimate goal of transforming diagnosis, clinical management, and the development of tailored therapeutic interventions.

A major pillar is the development of deeply characterized disease “golden cohorts” and associated biobanks, integrating clinical and phenotypic information with biospecimens, genomic, imaging, and molecular data. Combined with biomedical informatics and AI, these resources support disease discovery, improved diagnosis, patient stratification for clinical trials, and identification of candidates for targeted and emerging therapies.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

The role spans three core areas:

• Patient recruitment, phenotyping and biobanking: Coordinate patient identification and selection, recruitment and informed consent; organize biospecimen collection, processing, tracking and deposition with relevant core facilities; and oversee the capture, curation and quality control of clinical and phenotypic data. The coordinator will be instrumental in developing high-quality cohorts across epilepsy, autism, brain malformations, neurodevelopmental disorders and neuromuscular diseases
• Study governance, compliance and regulatory coordination: Coordinate IRB submissions, amendments and renewals; maintain study and regulatory documentation; monitor compliance with approved protocols and institutional requirements; and ensure studies remain appropriately documented and audit-ready throughout their lifecycle.
• Clinical interface and research support: Serve as a key point of contact between the research program and participating clinicians, facilitating communication, responding to study-related queries and coordinating information across clinical and research teams. The coordinator will also support study reporting and progress tracking and provide information and documentation for research dissemination, presentations, reports and grant applications.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences, Medicine, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of two years of experience in clinical research or research coordination.
• Previous experience in an academic medical center, university, hospital-affiliated research institution, or comparable academic research environment.
• Experience with participant identification, recruitment, screening, informed consent, and follow-up.
• Experience coordinating biospecimen collection, processing, tracking, biobanking, and associated research logistics.
• Experience with clinical and phenotypic data collection, curation, clinical research databases, and maintenance of accurate study records.
• Working knowledge of research protocols, IRB/ethics requirements, regulatory documentation, and human-subject research compliance, including experience with protocol development, amendments, IRB submissions, or other regulatory activities.
• Experience supporting study reporting, research dissemination, presentations, and grant applications.
• Quantitative and qualitative research analysis skills, with the ability to interpret, summarize, and communicate research data.
• Strong organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple studies, activities, and priorities simultaneously.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data quality, accurate documentation, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, clinicians, investigators, research teams, and other stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and problem-solve, while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary research environment.
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic.
• Experience with clinical trials would be an additional advantage.
