Full job description
The TA will work with the Clerkship Director and support the delivery, monitoring and assessment of Clinical clerkships. In addition, TA is expected to provide teaching in the preclerkship phase, after the clerkship is ended.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organize and participate in clinical assessments and examinations including OSCEs, MCQs case presentations, and case discussions.
Participate in the teaching of basic clinical skills at the pre-clerkship phase i.e. preparation of clinical skills sessions, delivery, and evaluation. Act as a link between teaching hospitals and The College of Medicine (CMED) supporting the academic staff and clinicians in educational responsibilities.
Facilitate small group teaching such as Problem-Based Learning (PBL) tutorials.
Assist in organizing students clinical rotations during clerkship training.
Assist in teaching and organizing clinical CME/CPD activities including faculty development.
Keep records of student attendance, formative and summative assessments. Facilitate and/or lead group discussions, either in small groups or with the whole class.
Prepare and present report for each student progress at the end of each semester.
Distribute, and arrange for return of, course evaluation questionnaires for each tutorial group taught.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in medicine & Surgery (MBBS, MD, or equivalent)At least two years of experience in clinical practice or in a relevant educational setting Postgraduate training (specialization/ Board/Masters/Diploma, desirable) CompetenciesStrong verbal and written communications in English Ability to work both independently and as part of a teamHighly competent in organizing and prioritising workloadsDemonstrated ability to exercise judgment and initiative to identify and rectify problemsAdvanced computer literacy with a willingness to update skills as requiredPrevious experience in clinical medicine or medical education Familiar with methods used in clinical skills teaching and appropriate experience is desirable
