Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Laboratory Technician to support academic, clinical, and research laboratory operations through sample collection and handling, laboratory testing, equipment operation, documentation, safety compliance, and inventory management.

Key Responsibilities:

* Collect, label, register, transport, and store biological, chemical, or environmental samples.

* Maintain sample integrity and follow appropriate preservation and chain-of-custody procedures.

* Perform standardized and research-specific laboratory testing.

* Operate laboratory equipment including spectrophotometers, centrifuges, thermal cyclers, microscopes, pH meters, balances, ELISA, electrophoresis, and chromatography systems.

* Follow SOPs for laboratory testing, calibration, and quality control.

* Assist researchers and instructors with experiments, measurements, and sample preparation.

* Record test results, observations, and anomalies accurately.

* Maintain sample logs, calibration records, QC/QA documentation, inventory records, and laboratory logs.

* Prepare basic reports and result summaries.

* Operate, clean, and perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.

* Support calibration, preventive maintenance, and equipment servicing.

* Assist with teaching laboratory setup and preparation of laboratory kits and reagents.

* Support research staff with data collection, method validation, and controlled testing.

* Monitor stock levels of reagents, kits, glassware, and consumables.

* Assist with procurement requests and delivery verification.

* Ensure proper labeling, storage, and expiry tracking of chemicals and biological materials.

* Follow biosafety, PPE, hazardous waste, and laboratory safety requirements.

* Immediately report spills, exposures, incidents, and safety concerns through the appropriate channels.

Qualifications & Experience:

* Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.

* 2–5 years of laboratory experience in an academic, clinical, or research environment.

* Familiarity with analytical laboratory instrumentation.

* Knowledge of chemical and biological sample handling.

* Knowledge of laboratory safety and quality control practices.

* GLP or ISO 15189/17025 training or certification is preferred.

* Experience in higher education or research institutions is an advantage.

* Good problem-solving and organizational skills.

* Ability to work safely with laboratory equipment and materials.

* Resourceful, self-motivated, flexible, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

* Good communication skills.

License/Certification:

  • MOPH Medical License in Qatar? (Required)
