Lifting Supervisor jobs

We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Lifting Supervisor to oversee and coordinate lifting operations across construction and project sites.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, supervising, and controlling all lifting activities to ensure they are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with approved lifting plans, project requirements, company procedures, and applicable Qatar safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise all lifting operations involving cranes, forklifts, telehandlers, hoists, and other lifting equipment.
• Review and implement approved lifting plans, risk assessments, and method statements before starting any lifting activity.
• Conduct pre-lift meetings and toolbox talks with crane operators, riggers, signalmen, and site personnel.
• Ensure lifting equipment, accessories, slings, shackles, hooks, spreader beams, and lifting gears have valid third-party inspection certificates.
• Verify the suitability and capacity of lifting equipment for each lifting operation.
• Inspect lifting areas, access routes, ground conditions, crane positions, and exclusion zones before work begins.
• Confirm that crane operators, riggers, and signalmen hold valid competency certificates and site approvals.
• Coordinate with project engineers, HSE teams, site supervisors, subcontractors, and equipment operators.
• Ensure proper communication and signalling systems are maintained throughout lifting operations.
• Stop any lifting activity that is unsafe, unplanned, or not compliant with the approved lifting plan.
• Monitor weather conditions, visibility, wind speed, and site conditions before and during lifting activities.
• Ensure loads are properly secured, balanced, rigged, and controlled during lifting and movement.
• Maintain lifting inspection records, lifting permits, checklists, certificates, and daily activity reports.
• Report lifting incidents, near misses, equipment defects, and unsafe conditions immediately.
• Support the preparation of critical lifting plans in coordination with lifting engineers and project management.
• Ensure compliance with company HSE requirements, client standards, and local authority regulations.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all personnel follow safe lifting practices.

Requirements

• Diploma or technical qualification in Mechanical, Civil, Construction, or a related field.
• Valid Lifting Supervisor certification from a recognized authority.
• Minimum 5 years of experience supervising lifting operations in construction, infrastructure, industrial, or Oil & Gas projects.
• Previous experience in Qatar or the GCC is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of crane operations, rigging methods, lifting accessories, load charts, and safe working loads.
• Ability to read and understand lifting plans, method statements, risk assessments, crane load charts, and technical drawings.
• Familiarity with routine, non-routine, and critical lifting operations.
• Good knowledge of HSE procedures and lifting regulations.
• Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to unsafe conditions.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Immediate availability or a short notice period will be an advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

• Third-party certified Lifting Supervisor.
• Certified Rigger or Appointed Person qualification.
• HSE, IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent safety certification.
• Experience supervising mobile cranes, tower cranes, crawler cranes, and heavy lifting operations.
• Valid Qatar ID and transferable visa.
• Valid Qatar driving licence is an advantage.
