Job Summary

The Waiter/Waitress is responsible for providing excellent food and beverage service to guests, ensuring a pleasant dining experience through professional, courteous, and efficient service while maintaining hotel standards and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Service

  • Welcome and greet guests in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Present menus and explain menu items, daily specials, and promotions.
  • Take food and beverage orders accurately and promptly.
  • Serve food and beverages according to hotel service standards.
  • Check guest satisfaction during and after service.
  • Handle guest requests, complaints, and concerns professionally and escalate when necessary.
  • Thank guests and invite them to return.

Food & Beverage Operations

  • Set up tables and dining areas before service.
  • Ensure proper table settings, cleanliness, and presentation.
  • Coordinate with kitchen and bar teams to ensure timely delivery of orders.
  • Clear and reset tables efficiently.
  • Process guest bills accurately and collect payments according to hotel procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of menu offerings, ingredients, and allergens.

Hygiene and Safety

  • Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times.
  • Maintain personal grooming and uniform standards.
  • Handle food and beverages safely and hygienically.
  • Follow health and safety regulations and emergency procedures.
  • Report any hazards, accidents, or equipment malfunctions.

Teamwork

  • Assist colleagues during busy periods.
  • Attend departmental meetings and training sessions.
  • Support other F&B outlets when required.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with all departments.

Inventory and Equipment

  • Ensure service stations are adequately stocked.
  • Handle restaurant equipment and utensils responsibly.
  • Report breakages, shortages, and maintenance issues to supervisors.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Certificate or training in hospitality or food service is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in a hotel, restaurant, or hospitality environment preferred.

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic food and beverage knowledge.
  • Ability to handle cash and POS systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to carry trays and lift up to 10–15 kg when necessary.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
