Your Day to Day

As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining all aspects of security within the hotel premises ensuring safety and security of guests, visitors and employees at all times.

Key responsibilities include:

• Maintain a visible and professional security presence throughout the hotel and its surrounding areas.
• Conduct regular patrols of guest areas, back-of-house areas, staff facilities, entrances, parking areas, and other designated locations.
• Monitor access points and ensure that only authorised individuals have access to restricted areas.
• Monitor CCTV and other security systems in accordance with hotel procedures.
• Respond promptly and professionally to security incidents, emergencies, alarms, and guest or colleague concerns.
• Prepare accurate and timely incident reports and maintain appropriate security records.
• Assist in managing situations involving lost and found property, suspicious activity, disturbances, or other security concerns.
• Support the investigation of incidents and provide relevant information to the Security leadership team.
• Ensure that hotel keys, access cards, equipment, and other security-sensitive items are handled and controlled appropriately.
• Monitor contractor, supplier, and visitor access in accordance with established procedures.
• Support the safe movement and management of guests and colleagues during emergencies or evacuations.
• Assist with emergency response procedures, including fire, medical, and other incidents, as required.
• Maintain awareness of hotel activities, VIP movements, special events, and other situations that may require additional security attention.
• Liaise professionally with local authorities and emergency services when required and under the direction of management.
• Ensure compliance with hotel security policies, IHG standards, and applicable local regulations.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding guest, colleague, and hotel information.
• Provide professional and courteous assistance to guests while maintaining appropriate security standards.

• Support other departments when required to ensure the overall safety and smooth operation of the hotel.

What We Need From You

Ideally, you'll have some or all of the following competencies and experience we're looking for:

• Previous experience in hotel security, hospitality security, corporate security, law enforcement, military service, or a related field is preferred.
• Previous experience in a luxury or five-star hotel environment would be an advantage.
• Strong observation and situational awareness skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional appearance, conduct, and a strong sense of responsibility.
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergency or challenging situations.
• Good understanding of security, safety, and emergency procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively with guests, colleagues, contractors, and external authorities.
• Physically capable of conducting regular patrols and remaining active throughout the shift.
• Basic computer skills and ability to complete security reports accurately.
• Good command of English; additional languages are an advantage.
