Job Summary

The English Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality English language and literature teaching in line with the Doha Academy curriculum and educational standards. The role involves planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that develop students’ reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking skills.

The English Teacher will play a key role in monitoring student progress, supporting individual learning needs, and promoting high standards of literacy and academic achievement. The role also includes contributing to whole-school initiatives, pastoral support, enrichment activities, staff collaboration, and maintaining effective communication with parents and school leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, challenging, and differentiated English lessons in line with the school curriculum.
  • Develop students’ reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking skills.
  • Monitor, assess, and track student progress and achievement in English.
  • Maintain high standards of teaching, learning, and classroom management.
  • Use a range of teaching strategies and resources to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to support students’ academic development.
  • Develop and review schemes of work, lesson plans, and teaching resources.
  • Support students with different abilities and learning needs through effective differentiation.
  • Promote a strong culture of reading, literacy, creativity, and independent learning.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, assessment, and attainment.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and other departments to improve student outcomes.
  • Participate in departmental and whole-school meetings, training, and professional development.
  • Contribute to school events, enrichment activities, and extracurricular programmes.
  • Support pastoral care and promote students’ wellbeing, behaviour, and personal development.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with parents regarding student progress and development.
  • Contribute to the school’s development plans and wider educational initiatives.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of School or Senior Leadership Team.
