Job Purpose

The ICT Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality, engaging and innovative ICT/Computing lessons across the Secondary School in accordance with the British Curriculum.

The successful candidate will inspire students to develop strong digital literacy, computational thinking, programming, problem-solving and responsible technology-use skills. The teacher will support students in achieving excellent academic outcomes and, where applicable, prepare them for GCSE/IGCSE and AS/A Level examinations.

Key Responsibilities1. Teaching and Learning

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, challenging and differentiated ICT/Computing lessons.
  • Teach ICT and Computing across relevant Secondary Key Stages, including KS3 and KS4 and, where required, KS5.
  • Follow the British National Curriculum and relevant examination-board specifications.
  • Develop students' digital literacy, computational thinking, creativity and problem-solving abilities.
  • Use a variety of innovative teaching strategies, digital platforms and educational technologies to enhance learning.
  • Provide practical, hands-on learning opportunities involving programming, coding, databases, spreadsheets, web development, digital media and other relevant ICT applications.
  • Differentiate lessons and learning resources to meet the needs of students of varying abilities, including high-achieving students and students requiring additional support.
  • Promote independent learning, critical thinking and effective use of technology.
  • Maintain high expectations of student achievement, behaviour and participation.

2. Curriculum Development

  • Develop and maintain effective schemes of work, lesson plans and subject resources.
  • Ensure curriculum planning provides appropriate progression of knowledge and skills across the Secondary years.
  • Contribute to the continuous review and development of the ICT/Computing curriculum.
  • Integrate emerging technologies and relevant digital tools into classroom learning.
  • Support the development of cross-curricular STEM and digital-learning initiatives.
  • Contribute to the selection and effective use of ICT software, hardware and digital resources.

3. Assessment and Student Progress

  • Assess students' work regularly using appropriate formative and summative assessment methods.
  • Provide timely, constructive and meaningful feedback to students.
  • Monitor and analyse student attainment and progress.
  • Maintain accurate assessment and academic records in accordance with school procedures.
  • Identify students who require additional support or academic challenge and implement appropriate strategies.
  • Prepare students effectively for internal and external examinations, including GCSE/IGCSE and AS/A Level examinations where applicable.
  • Participate in moderation, standardisation and departmental assessment activities.

4. Classroom Management

  • Establish and maintain a positive, respectful and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Implement the school's behaviour management policies consistently.
  • Promote responsible, safe and ethical use of technology.
  • Ensure students follow appropriate ICT laboratory and equipment safety procedures.
  • Maintain appropriate classroom routines and ensure effective use and care of ICT equipment.

5. Digital Skills and Technology

The teacher should demonstrate strong practical knowledge in relevant areas such as:

  • Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365 or equivalent productivity applications.
  • Programming and coding, such as Python or other relevant languages.
  • Databases and spreadsheet applications.
  • Web design and development.
  • Digital media and multimedia applications.
  • Computer systems and networks.
  • Cybersecurity and online safety.
  • Data handling and information management.
  • Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies.
  • Digital citizenship and responsible technology use.

6. Student Development and Enrichment

  • Encourage students to participate in coding, robotics, STEM, technology and digital innovation activities.
  • Support or lead ICT-related clubs, competitions and extracurricular activities.
  • Encourage students to explore careers and further education pathways in ICT, Computing, Engineering and STEM.
  • Organise or support educational visits, workshops and technology-related enrichment activities.
  • Promote creativity, collaboration, communication and problem-solving through technology.

7. Pastoral and Whole-School Responsibilities

  • Contribute positively to the school's pastoral and wellbeing programmes.
  • Act as a form tutor or undertake pastoral responsibilities when required.
  • Support students' personal, social and academic development.
  • Participate in school events, assemblies, meetings and co-curricular activities.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and school leadership.
  • Contribute to whole-school improvement initiatives.

8. Safeguarding and Child Protection

  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of all students.
  • Follow the school's safeguarding and child-protection procedures at all times.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with students.
  • Report safeguarding concerns promptly through the appropriate school procedures.
  • Promote an inclusive and respectful learning environment.
  • Comply with school policies relating to student welfare, health and safety, behaviour and online safety.

9. Professional Development

  • Participate actively in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Keep up to date with developments in ICT, Computing, educational technology and digital learning.
  • Engage in professional reflection and continuously improve teaching practice.
  • Share effective teaching strategies and resources with colleagues.
  • Attend departmental and whole-school training sessions.
  • Contribute to professional learning communities and departmental development.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Bachelor's Degree in ICT, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Studies or a closely related subject.
  • Recognised teaching qualification such as B.Ed., PGCE, QTS or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of relevant teaching experience, preferably in a British Curriculum or international school.
  • Experience teaching ICT/Computing at Secondary level.
  • Strong knowledge of the British National Curriculum.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Excellent classroom management and lesson-planning skills.
  • Strong ICT and digital technology skills.
  • Ability to use assessment effectively to improve student progress.

Pay: QAR7,000.00 - QAR9,000.00 per month
