Full job description

The Catering Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, supervising, and controlling daily industrial catering operations across multiple project sites. The position ensures timely food production and delivery, consistent food quality, cost control, manpower utilization, client satisfaction, and compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Catering Operations Management

  • Oversee daily catering operations at central kitchens, industrial sites, labour camps, and client locations.
  • Ensure timely preparation, transportation, and distribution of meals according to contractual requirements.
  • Monitor daily meal counts, production schedules, and service quality.
  • Ensure uninterrupted catering services during operational emergencies.

2. Manpower Management

  • Supervise chefs, cooks, kitchen helpers, catering supervisors, and service personnel.
  • Prepare duty rosters, manpower deployment plans, and weekly-off schedules.
  • Monitor attendance, productivity, discipline, and staff performance.
  • Identify manpower shortages and coordinate with HR for recruitment and replacements.

3. Food Quality, Hygiene & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with Qatar Ministry of Public Health requirements, HACCP principles, and applicable food safety standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections of kitchens, food storage areas, and catering sites.
  • Monitor food temperature, hygiene practices, food handling, and transportation conditions.
  • Investigate food complaints and implement corrective and preventive actions.

4. Cost Control & Inventory

  • Monitor daily food costs, consumption, wastage, and portion control.
  • Coordinate with purchasing and store departments to maintain adequate stock.
  • Ensure FIFO/FEFO inventory practices.
  • Control food, manpower, transportation, and operational expenses against approved budgets.

5. Client Relationship Management

  • Maintain professional relationships with clients and site representatives.
  • Attend client meetings and address operational concerns.
  • Monitor contract requirements, service standards, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure prompt resolution of complaints and service disruptions.

6. Reporting & Management Coordination

  • Submit daily catering operations reports to the General Manager.
  • Report meal production, manpower deployment, food costs, wastage, client complaints, and operational incidents.
  • Recommend improvements to productivity, profitability, and service quality.
  • Coordinate with HR, Procurement, Store, Transport, Maintenance, and Accounts departments.
