Full job description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Shadow Teacher (Learning Assistant) to provide one-to-one support for a school-aged student with significant learning and developmental needs. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the student's academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development within the school environment.

This position requires an individual with experience in special education, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), behavior management, and positive handling strategies. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, parents, and school staff to help the student access learning successfully and achieve individual goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one classroom and school-based support to a student with significant learning needs.
  • Implement individualized learning, behavior, and support plans as directed by educational and therapeutic professionals.
  • Utilize ABA principles and evidence-based intervention strategies to support learning and skill development.
  • Promote positive behavior and emotional regulation through proactive support and reinforcement strategies.
  • Employ positive handling techniques in accordance with school policies and best practices when required.
  • Adapt learning activities and classroom materials to meet the student's individual needs.
  • Support the student's communication, social interaction, independence, and participation in school activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of progress, behavior observations, and support strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, special educators, therapists, and parents to ensure consistency of support.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working as a Shadow Teacher, Learning Support Assistant, Special Needs Assistant, or Teaching Assistant.
  • Experience working in mainstream or inclusive educational settings.
  • Preferably a degree or certificate in Special Education, Psychology, Education, ABA, Child Development, or a related field
  • Previous experience supporting children with significant learning difficulties, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), developmental delays, or additional learning needs within a school environment
  • Knowledge and practical experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
  • Experience implementing behavior support plans and behavior intervention strategies.
  • Training or experience in positive handling, de-escalation, and behavior management techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive and effective relationships with students, families, and school staff.
  • Patience, empathy, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting students with special educational needs.

Pay: From QAR4,000.00 per month

Work Location: In person
